{ad} Slushy fun with Mr Frosty ice slushy maker from Flair Toys

 Oh my goodness Mr Frosty!!

This really took me back to my childhood although if I was going to get to have a try of the Mr Frosty that definitely wasn’t the case!

Still the same as he was when we were younger. You can make flavoured crushed ice with the fruit shaped ice cubes, ice lollies or even just crush ice then use Mr Penguin to squeeze your favourite flavour over the top.

Pop your ice cubes in the top and turn the handle. Crushed ice will fill the compartment and dispense into one of the bowls and grab a spoon from Mr Frosty’s hand.

This was so easy to assemble and we were able to use straight away (once we had frozen some ice!) as it really is minimal assembly required.

Included in the box is the main Mr Frosty shaped slushy maker, ice lolly moulds, ice cube tray, Mr Penguin juice dispenser, 2 spoons and 2 bowls.

Mr Frosty did have a queue of eager users in our house!! From the 9 year old through to the 18 year old, everyone wanted to make their own Mr Frosty creations to enjoy. One child made a flavoured ice slushy by freezing juice and water. One wanted plain ice cubes to crush and then used the Penguin juice dispenser to add flavour and another chose their own choice of drink to freeze to make a fizzy slushy.

We had so much fun with Mr Frosty. The fun shapes of the ice cubes which were then used to make the slushy were great. Each child had fun trying out different flavours either to the ice or afterwards by pouring different juices over plain crushed ice.

Mr Frosty is available now from Argos. For endless hours of slushy making fun. It’s freeze-tastic!

A family trip to London. The Zoo, rainforest cafe, Fortnum & Mason’s sundaes & empty wallets!!

We had a fabulous couple of days in London to kickstart the summer holidays. Although if those few days are anything to go by then I’m declaring bankruptcy by the end of August 😂

When you put your super plans into action you then need to pay for it all and days out don’t always happen cheaply.

Keeping the children entertained over the six week holidays isn’t easy especially at the moment with the unpredictable weather.

We spent 3 days in London and it was fab. The children wanted to visit London Zoo again which was a lovely day out. The weather was kind to us that day too which helped massively.

When we arrived on the Sunday we went straight to the hotel to ditch the suitcases and go and explore. Within seconds of stepping into the hotel the heavens opened and we had no choice but to sit in the hotel bar, wait for our room and watch the Olympics! It wasn’t a great start and I did start panicking about the weather for the days ahead.

That evening we managed to get out for a walk along the South Bank. It was still drizzling with rain but warm so we stayed out for about half an hour. Not a great start to the couple of days we had planned but we did what we could.

The next day we woke up to a lovely warm day (thank goodness). It was zoo day. The children love the zoo and there is so much to see. We arrived at 10am and started on one of the many routes around the zoo. Each child had a different animal that they were desperate to see (or also avoid in some cases). Thing 5 loves the sloths, Thing 2 loves the lemurs. They all love the gift shop!!

We spent four hours wandering around the zoo and saw every animal. We love walking through the sections that are ‘in with the’ like the lemurs and monkeys. There is also in with the butterflies which Thing 2 hates and in with the spiders which didn’t appeal to some either. The spiders are on the large side and if you don’t look carefully you can get a little closer than you wanted to 😬

We had booked the rainforest cafe restaurant for our evening meal. The Things wanted to go last year when we visited London but it never happened so thought it was perfect for after a day at the zoo.

I was slightly unimpressed with the rainforest cafe. We had all been looking forward to it for so long. Our starters arrived with our mains and although we tried explaining to the waiter that we didn’t want it all together he didn’t understand what we were saying so in the end I just let him put it all on the table. I gave up trying to get my point across and by this point we were all hungry!

Afterwards we walked down to Hamleys and the children had a good look around the shop across all floors. Be careful though! Hamleys prices are slightly more than other shops and the Nerf fun that Thing 5 spotted for £75 I found on Amazon for £20 😱 I’m all for letting the children choose a treat in the toy shop and we didn’t leave empty handed but I also refuse to pay £55 over the odds for something. Needless to say it was ordered on Amazon ready for his birthday the next week.

On our last day I had booked a treat at Fortnum and Mason. I love going to look around their store and myself and Dadof5 have enjoyed their afternoon tea in the Diamond Jubilee tearoom which we thoroughly enjoyed so I booked The Parlour for ice cream sundaes. Again this was something I was really looking forward to and looking forward to treating the children to.

You can build your own super sundae with a choice of ice creams, sorbets, sauces, toppings and finishing touches. So many flavour combinations to choose from.

We were 10 minutes late which I was so annoyed about, I hate being late. We walked across from our hotel to the store and I had underestimated how slow Thing 5 would be on our journey. Anyway once seated we were served drinks relatively promptly and were asked if we were ready to order, I asked for a few more minutes. 20 minutes later we still hadn’t been asked if we were now ready. Thing 3 was sat under a very cold air conditioning vent and was freezing 🥶 and Thing 5 was having a meltdown. I was slowly losing it 😂

We managed to get the waiters attention and placed all of our orders for sundaes. Lots of different flavour combinations were chosen by everyone and the sundaes arrived fairly promptly. They were delicious. So much choice when it comes to creating your sundae and we all enjoyed and finished our sundae (apart from Thing 5 who didn’t like his 🙄).

I really liked the sundaes but was definitely underwhelmed with the experience. Thing 4’s sundae wasn’t as impressive as I thought for the price and I was slightly disappointed compared to the experience and attentiveness of staff elsewhere in the store and restaurants within Fortnum and Mason.

Travelling to London from our home town takes just 38 mins on the fastest train which is a real bonus for me. I love travelling into London even just for a day trip and love staying there too.

There is so much more we can see and do too. The children want to visit the London Dungeons and the London Eye. Thing 5 wants to go on an open top bus around the city too which we’ve never done before. We also need to try different hotels too. We stayed in the Premier Inn County Hall which is right by the South Bank near the London Eye. It’s always served us well and only used as a quick base for sleeping and maybe a pit stop between activities etc… but we do need to try more hotels that London has to offer, there are so many to choose from.

We will definitely be back in London soon. We love visiting the city and can always find lots to do when we are there. It’s always worth trying new restaurant experiences and finding new activities to do too.

Review; Jump It lap counter from Character Toys. Active fun with Character.

The Jump It lap counter skipping rope style toy landed in our house this week and it was so fun to use.

Having had one of these when I was younger I was keen to show the children how to use it.

I love to see toys that I had when I was younger making a comeback and I can show the children the fun we had when we were playing with our toys.

Just put the solid hoop around your ankle and then use a spinning motion to make it spin around and then hop over the counter with your other foot. Just a skip and a jump!

The Jump It is so easy to assemble and took just a few seconds so there’s no waiting to get stuck into using it almost straight away.

Some of the children took to it straight away and others took a little time to get the momento going with the Jump It and to get co ordinated too! It became great fun to see who could get the highest jump count in one go or who could get to 100 in the quickest time.

This is great to keep everyone active and the jump counter is great to see your progress from day to day or to challenge your friends and family to see who can do the most jumps or even a timed challenge. It counts up to 999 lap counts, who can reach 999 first?

It’s great fun for young (and older like me!) and we’ve used it both outdoors and indoors, just make sure you’ve given yourself plenty of room for the Jump It to spin around in an open area once you spin it around your feet. It’s really been great fun and we can use it any time to have fun and also keep fit and active too.

At a fantastic price point of £12.99 and available from Smyths Toys. It’s ideal to keep everyone active and an ideal price point as a birthday gift for friends too. Have a Jump It each and challenge each other.

Review; Moon shoes are back for ‘gravity defying’ moon walking, bouncy nostalgic fun!

Moon shoes nostalgia. Space walking is back with retro toy fun.

Oh gosh I can’t tell you how much I wanted a pair of moon shoes when I was younger.

My school bestie had some and I badgered my parents so much about them.

Alas it was never meant to be. I would play with my besties pair of moon shoes when I could but I never got a pair of my own.

NOW THEY ARE BACK! Retro toy fun is always great and I love seeing a fab toy return.

Moon shoes are bouncy, space walking fun on your feet. Suitable for up to shoe size UK 7.5 with double Velcro fastening and various amounts of rubber bands for different weight for maximum bounce effect.

Made of quality, high-density plastic, with adjustable VELCRO brand nylon closure straps, Moon Shoes feature a self-centering shoe platform with non-skid grip surface for sure-footed, high-bouncing thrills.

Thing 5 was the first to try them out and he had such a fun time out in the garden pretending to be a spaceman on the moon.

For ages 7 years plus these were ideal for all of my children to try, although that’s if they were willing or give them up to let someone else have a go!!

Even I waited (im)patiently! for my turn. I had to have a go after all these years of wishing I had got a pair of moon shoes when I was younger. It didn’t disappoint although I could have been a better spaceman than I was, the children weren’t impressed with my moon walking skills!

Mum it’s like having my own trampolines on my feet’ he said as he jumped up and down with a big smile on his face.

Thing 4’s turn next, he was a bit dubious at first but once he set off on his ‘moon walk’ there was no stopping him!

These are great for indoor or outdoor fun. We used them outside when the weather was nice and the children had great fun with them. The grips around the bottom edge of the black plastic base makes them great for smoother floor surfaces.

Feel like you are a space man walking on the moon in your very own moon shoes from Character Toys. Available now from Argos at £29.99.

Meeting up with family at Easter time. One year after lockdown.

Wow what a year of highs and lows it has been.

What with COVID lockdown and my Mums cancer diagnosis the past year has been one we have been glad to see the back of!

Easter Sunday marked the day when we were finally going to go to my parents house.

Sunday’s, pre COVID, were usually spent visiting parents. Having a cuppa or lunch. Chatting, laughing and enjoying the weather. However this past year we haven’t been able to and it’s been horrible.

These past few weeks we’ve been looking forward to going to see them. Once we were told that groups of six or two households were allowed to meet up outside we had planned to spend the day with them and prayed for good weather. Nan and Grandadof5 had planned all of the food we were going to eat and having to sit outdoors they had set up the gazebo incase of bad weather.

What a fantastic day we’ve had and we’ve waited so long for too. We spent the day in the garden, cooked food, played boules & cricket, enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, had a laugh and a fabulous time. Nanof5 was soooo pleased to see the grandchildren.

The children have so many yummy Easter eggs and treats to eat too. The Easter holidays will be fuelled by chocolate eggs for sure!

Here’s to many more days where we can all meet up with family and friends as the weeks and months go on. It’s very much overdue and very much needed too.

Have you met up with family or friends over the Easter weekend or do you have plans to meet over the next few weeks?

I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter weekend, ate lots of chocolate and had a fab time.
