We did have all of the guns and darts in a box, just thrown in and tipped out when they wanted to play with them. It's usually the gun at the bottom of the box they want too so even though the whole box is sprawled across the floor they only actually play with one gun.
As I said the darts get everywhere too. A good Nerf battle means you spend forever finding them down the back of the sofa or under the sofa, inside random boxes, behind the TV, underneath beds, EVERYWHERE.
So we needed some better storage for their Nerf armoury and I stumbled across the Ikea Skadis pegboards & accessories.
You've got to love Ikea for being able to find something suitable for every storage need!
The pegboards are fantastic and suited for so many storage needs. There are 3 different sizes of pegboard and then the accessories to add on. We found the metal hanging hooks in 2 different sizes and a storage bag which was ideal to hold all of the Nerf darts.
We initially bought 2 pegboards in the medium size of 56 x 56 cm but it was easy to add more as their collection grew.
You can also easily reorganise things as the hooks are easy to move and reattach in various configurations across the boards.
There are other accessories that you can buy separately from the pegboards that may also work in helping to organise your Nerf guns. As I said we bought the storage bag and then a few packs of the small and larger hooks but there are also containers, elastic cords and clips which could all work in helping to keep everything well organised and tidy.
As you can see from the two pictures everything is well organised and easily accessible. No more guns sprawled everywhere just to get to the one they want. They can just grab a gun of the pegboard and go. You can also see from the first picture that we added an extra pegboard as their collection grew.
The pegboards are available in sizes 76 x 56cm, 56 x 56cm and 36 x 56cm with prices starting from just £8 per board. The accessories all come separately and the small hooks are just £2 for a pack of 5. The storage bag was £4 and is a great size to hold lots of Nerf darts and easily clips on to the board too.
