Our Lush haul in pictures. Our visit to Lush, Thing 5 chooses his pick of the best Easter bath bombs on offer plus other bath bombs he wanted too.

Our Lush haul, some Easter treats at Lush too.

Since buying some fab Lush gift sets for my two older girls at Christmas and then buying a couple of Lush sale items we have been hooked on Lush bath bombs ever since.

Thing 5, aged 3 has been so hooked that our supplies quickly depleted and he started looking at the Lush website at all the different bath bombs we could buy. He loved that on each page that showed the different bath bombs there was a small video that played at the top showing the bath bomb in some water bubbling away so you could see what it was like.

He kept asking to go the 'bath bomb shop' as he called it so last weekend I took him and Thing 4 to our nearest Lush store.

Upon arrival Thing 5 took control of the shopping basket. Walking around the shop he was amazed at all of the bath bombs there were on offer, as well as lots of other lovely products.

He was on a mission for a couple of items in particular. The Experimenter bath bomb and the Ickle Baby Bot bath bombs. He saw the Experimenter straight away and got really excited and we added one to the basket.

The Experimenter bath bomb. This was used the night after our shopping trip. It is full of colour and fizz and is one of the best Lush bath bombs for a visual display of colour in your bath.

As we walked along the row of bath bombs and bubble bars we saw quite a few lovely Easter offerings from Lush. One was the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb as well as fluffy egg, golden egg and Which Came First?. Thing 4 chose the Humpty Dumpty bath bomb and Thing 4 picked up a fluffy egg and a golden egg bath bomb melt.

Easter treats include the Humpty Dumpty and Fluffy Egg bath bombs

Also the golden egg bath bomb melt

Intergalactic and Frozen bath bombs

Other goodies we picked up were the cute little ladybird bubble bar, 4 Ickle Baby Bot bath bombs, a Frozen bath bomb and an Intergalactic.

The very cute Ladybird bubble bar, I don't think I can use her she's too cute!

We could have bought so much more and could have kept our stockpile at home going strong for a while however it was lovely to go to the shop and choose all of the different things we wanted and there are always new products coming out too.

Ickle Baby Bot bath bombs

Thing 5 is desperate for some Spring Bunny bath bombs but they only appear in the Bouncing Bunny gift set at the moment and in the Oxford Street store. Fingers crossed for an appearance from them soon online or in our local store, or I could send Thing 5 to London for some, I am sure he won't mind?!

If you are looking for something different for Mothers Day or Easter do go and check out the Lush range online or in store. As well as the individual items that they stock they have a lovely range of gift sets available too.

There are some fab gift sets for Mothers Day and Easter. We love the Easter bath bombs that are in store and online at the moment.

Meningitis symptoms and what to look out for. The Meningitis B vaccine. who is eligible? Paying privately for older children and the campaign to make the vaccine available to all children

Meningitis symptoms and what to look out for and the Meningitis B vaccine

Unfortunately for many children the Meningitis B vaccination isn't available to them. After the recent news stories about the tragic death of Faye Burdett and rugby star Matt Dawson's son also contracting meningitis, the disease is again at the forefront of every parents minds and there is now a campaign to get the vaccine available to all children.

In the UK from September 2015 babies born on or after 1 July 2015 are being offered the Meningitis B vaccine as part of the routine immunisation schedule and babies born on or after 1 May 2015 are being offered the vaccine as part of a one off catch-up campaign.  Babies under the age of 1 are at the highest risk of disease and are over 4 times more likely to contract this illness than any other age group. This is why all babies are offered the vaccine routinely on the NHS at 2, 4 and 12 months of age.

However, if you want your child vaccinated and your child doesn't fall under this criteria then you have to pay for the vaccination if you want your child protected. Children who were born before 1st May 2015 are not eligible to be vaccinated on the NHS, but have the option of paying to be vaccinated privately. Unfortunately, due to high demand for the vaccine, there is currently a shortage in the private vaccine supply for new patients.

SYMPTOMS OF MENINGITIS;

A baby or young child with meningitis may:
  • have a high fever, with cold hands and feet
  • vomit and refuse to feed
  • feel agitated and not want to be picked up
  • become drowsy, floppy and unresponsive
  • grunt or breathe rapidly
  • have an unusual high-pitched or moaning cry
  • have pale, blotchy skin, and a red rash that doesn't fade when a glass is rolled over it
  • have a tense, bulging soft spot on their head (fontanelle)
  • have a stiff neck and dislike bright lights
  • have convulsions or seizures

In older children, teenagers and adults, the symptoms of meningitis can include:
  • a fever, with cold hands and feet
  • vomiting
  • drowsiness and difficulty waking up
  • confusion and irritability
  • severe muscle pain
  • pale, blotchy skin, and a distinctive rash (although not everyone will have this)
  • a severe headache
  • stiff neck
  • sensitivity to light (photophobia)
  • convulsion or seizures
All symptoms listed can appear in any order, and some may not appear at all.
The glass test - If you press the side of a clear glass firmly against the skin and the rash doesn't fade, it's a sign of meningitis.

A person with septicaemia may have a rash of tiny pin pricks that later develops into purple bruising.

The Meningitis Research Foundation says that Meningitis B is - the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in the UK.

If your child is displaying any of these symptoms please do not hesitate to contact your GP or if more severe symptoms straight to the hospital. It is better to be over cautious and getting it seen to quickly, even if it turns out to be nothing serious. I just wanted to make people aware and refresh ourselves on the symptoms of meningitis.

Details of the campaign to get the vaccine available for all children can be found online, if you want to sign the petition and find out more details. It has now become the most signed online petition in parliamentary history with over 691,000 signatures so far.

REVIEW of Bobux I-Walk Aqua Tetra leather children's shoes. Bobux leather shoes for babies and children. Also taking a look at the new Spring Summer 2016 range.

Bobux children's leather shoes

We were recently sent a lovely pair of Bobux I-Walk leather shoes to review. There was so much choice from this fab children's brand that I didn't know which ones to go for. I was choosing for Thing 5 who is 3 years old.

I opted for the lovely Aqua Tetra pair. They are fab mix of an aqua colour with white leather and a velcro fastening. With a quilted look area to the heel of the shoe and Bobux stitched across the velcro fastening.

These shoes look fab, so colourful and smart. As soon as they arrived I commented on how flexible and soft the leather was. Ideal for growing feet. The I-Walk range is available in sizes 21-29 (approx. UK children's size 5-11).

The I-Walk range is based on Bobux' expert foot health foundations and styled to demand attention, it’s no surprise I-Walks have been such a massive hit around the world. Changes in the shape of the foot at this stage are reflected in their unique custom ‘lasts’ and healthy foot development principles are incorporated into every design.

IWALK FEATURES

Flexible sole in line with foot health best practice.
Premium materials. Full leather and advanced, lightweight textiles.
Superb detailing and high quality finish.

We have had our Aqua Tetra I-Walks for a few months now and they are still going strong. They look fab even through the demanding wear of a toddler. The soles are lovely and flexible and Thing 5's feet don't feel or look restricted as he runs and jumps about. He wears them everywhere including a full day at preschool and I am confident that his feet will remain comfortable throughout the day in his Bobux shoes.

The velcro fastening is also fab to encourage independence. We are not quite at the shoe lace tying stage yet but Thing 5 has been dressing himself and putting his shoes and coat on for a while now. There's nothing worse than not being able to tie your shoe laces once you have put on your shoes but the Bobux shoes means he can get his shoes on and fasten them and be ready to go outside by himself without needing any help.

Unless we have a change in shoe size the Bobux shoes are going to keep us going for a while to come yet. they do have the worn look but are in no way worn out at all and still look fab.

I would definitely recommend Bobux shoes. The variety of styles and colours is fab. Toddlers don't want dull plain coloured shoes and Bobux definitely deliver the wonderfully colourful, fun, fab shoes that children and us Mums want as well as still being tested to Reach standards and podiatry endorsed.

We were sent the Aqua Tetra I-Walk shoes from the Bobux A/W 2015 for purposes of as review, all thoughts and comments are our own.

Wicked Wednesdays; 10/02/2016. Please, no more pictures Mum!

The perils of being a bloggers child, you are told to pose at any given opportunity. Sometimes you've just had enough!!

brummymummyof2

An open letter to Mr/Mrs Hotpoint, Indesit, must try harder. By the time my tumble dryer is fixed my toddler will have moved out!

Dear Hotpoint Indesit,

Having registered my tumble dryer for repair back in November, I'm still waiting. As are hundreds of thousands of other people. Some have had their homes ruined by your machines because you haven't fix the issue quick enough but don't worry, you carry on sitting on your millions of pounds worth of cash. Maybe all that cash bought you a Bosch dryer for your ivory tower because I can guess you don't have one of your dangerous machines in your home and if you do I am 100% certain yours has been fixed already.

Let me take you back to November when I registered my dryer for fixing. An email dropped into my inbox saying you would be in contact asap and I could carry on using my dryer as usual. This being multiple times a day as its Winter and I have seven people's washing to dry. It informed me that I couldn't leave my appliance unattended.

Two separate emails telling me I COULD continue to use my dryer but to take precautions. I love watching my tumble dryer?!

So, since November I have spent more time with my tumble dryer than I have with my own family. I've watched it more than my TV, it's quite boring to be fair having only a few programmes, a change in heat setting makes for a more intense viewing.

Then back in January I received another email telling me there was a delay but I could get a new tumble dryer if mine was over 1 year old. It gave me 2 options, a condenser or a vented machine. I looked at the vented machine, it was a downgrade in energy efficiency on my machine I had and you expected me to pay towards it. Now Mr Indesit Hotpoint do you really need that £59, I think not. We only got our dryer last year and I'm not paying out more due to your incompetence. So I waited, and waited, and waited.

To date I've spent nearly 3 months with my machine. It enjoyed Christmas and celebrated New Year with a day off. My Mum tells me that if you wash clothes on New Years Day you wash a life away. Lucky for my machine I don't take the risk, it appreciated it's day off and it meant I could spend the day with my family, they seem like nice people.

My social life has suffered, it's a great new excuse for replying to invites out 'Sorry not tonight I'm watching my tumble dryer'.

Now here's my issue. I can't afford to buy a new other branded tumble dryer but if I could I would have bought one straight away and not had to sit staring at a dangerous hazard awaiting a fire in my home. I'm always told you get what you pay for and maybe if I had bought a more expensive higher end brand I wouldn't have wasted my time and money on your brand.

If we wait any longer it will be Summer and I can hang some washing on the line, my dryer can have an extended holiday at the local tip and I can rummage down the back of the sofa to see if my pennies stretch to a new dryer for next Winter, not one of yours.

Thing 5 helping out by taking a shift for me.

So for now I will remain watching my dryer, I have clothes to wash and dry. If only the conversation between me and my machine wasn't so one sided. Maybe one day I can spend more time with my children too although I've spent so long with he tumble dryer it's become one of the family.

Regards,

Frustrated Mum of Five and Mr Tumble Dryer.

The NEW Mini Rodini Spring Summer 2016 collection is out now. Our pick of the pieces we like the best. Unicorns, love hearts, lucky clover, mouse print and more.

I only discovered Mini Rodini last year but since then I have lusted over quite a few of their pieces from their clothing and home ranges. Our first purchase was the Mini Rodini Bengal tiger all in one suit.

This was lovely and soft and made things easy if we were ever in a rush to get out we could just throw it on and it was a lovely funky design. Thing 5 looked really comfortable in it but unfortunately it didn't last long as we had bought the biggest size but it was a snug fit. So our next purchase was the Bengal tiger sweat pants. We loved the design so much that I needed another piece of clothing in the same design. Again they are such a lovely soft fabric and look really comfortable and colourful. New sized up so he has plenty of space and room to grow so they should last for a while.

We have been awaiting the new seasons collection and it has just landed on the Mini Rodini website and also with other stockists too.
